Where It All Began
In 2015, I travelled to Yemen, never imagining that it would completely change the course of my life. What I thought would be a new chapter became the beginning of a lifelong passion. During the next three years, I lived among the people of Haraz, discovering a country whose history and identity are deeply intertwined with coffee.
More Than Just Coffee
Living in Yemen taught me that coffee is far more than a beverage. It is how people welcome guests, celebrate friendships, and preserve traditions that have been passed down for generations. Every cup carried a story, and every farmer I met shared an unwavering pride in what they grew. It was this human connection that made me fall in love with coffee.
Coffee Beyond the Cup
As I spent time with farming communities, I realised that every coffee bean represents years of dedication, hard work, and heritage. Walking through mountain terraces, witnessing the harvest, and learning traditional processing methods gave me a completely new perspective. Coffee was no longer just about taste—it was about the people and the journey behind every cup.
Bringing the Journey Home
When I returned to Pakistan, I brought back much more than memories. I returned with a mission: to share the remarkable coffees and stories I had experienced firsthand. I wanted people to discover coffee the way I had—not simply as a drink, but as an experience that connects people, cultures, and places.
Our Journey So Far
Why Yemen ?
Yemen is widely regarded as one of the birthplaces of coffee.
Its ancient terraced farms, heirloom varieties, and centuries-old traditions produce some of the world’s most distinctive coffees.

Brewing Qahwah
Pakistan’s coffee culture was growing rapidly, and so was the community of coffee enthusiasts seeking quality coffee experiences.
As coffee lovers ourselves, we searched for exceptional coffees within Pakistan but often found limited options when it came to traceability, freshness, and origin-focused offerings.
That gap inspired us to create something different.
Qahwah was established with a simple vision:
To bring exceptional specialty coffee to Pakistan and roast it locally with care, transparency, and respect for its origin.
Given our personal connection with Yemen and its remarkable coffee heritage, it was only natural that our journey would begin there.
Today, Qahwah sources carefully selected coffees from Yemen and other renowned coffee-growing regions around the world. Rather than focusing on volume, we focus on quality. We work with small lots and micro-lots that allow greater traceability, consistency, and transparency throughout the supply chain.

Reviving Coffee in Yemen
Yemen is the birthplace of coffee, yet many of its farming communities continue to face immense challenges. Through Qahwah, I hope to play a small part in bringing greater recognition to Yemeni coffee by supporting producers, promoting direct trade, and sharing their incredible work with coffee lovers around the world. Every bag we roast is our way of celebrating Yemen’s rich coffee heritage and helping preserve it for future generations.
